The Ultimate Showdown:

Bullseye vs. Green Arrow

Two marksmen. One rooftop. One battle.

Since comic books became popular many decades ago, fans have always argued about who would win in a fight between X character and Y character. This has been going on forever and will continue because that is one of the many ways fans have fun in the medium.

In this case, we have two of the finest marksmen in the history of comics and two incredible fighters: Marvel Comics’ Bullseye and DC Comics’ Green Arrow. Two warriors of the highest caliber and a fight that, if they shared universes, could realistically happen, making things much more interesting.

So, who would win in a fight between Bullseye and Green Arrow? Let’s find out.

Who are these characters?

Even though other people have carried the mantle, when we talk about Green Arrow, we are talking about Oliver Queen since he is the most popular and iconic version of the superhero.

The character was created in the early 40s by legendary (and infamous) DC Comics writer and editor Mort Weisinger and artist George Papp, with the character usually being a very common Robin Hood ripoff with Batman elements (his own Arrow cave, his Arrowmobile, his version of Robin, Speedy, and so on). But by the time artist and writer Neal Adams took the character in 1969, he gave his own identity, altering his look, making a much more sociopolitical character, and giving him a hot-headed personality that has defined the character throughout the years.

Writer and artist Mike Grell redefined the character in the 80s, making him willing to kill and go through much more realistic adventures, turning Oliver Queen into a much more somber hero. And although the character has been retconned to make him return to the iconic Adams version, the character Grell created is highly regarded as one of the character’s greatest eras.

Oliver Queen is a millionaire playboy living carefree until he has a boat accident and ends up on an island for a long time, where he has to learn to hunt and survive while developing his abilities as a fighter. Finally, after many different events (which vary, depending on DC reboots), Oliver returns to civilization and decides to fight crime under the mantle of Green Arrow.

Bullseye’s story is a lot more straightforward. He is a master assassin and marksman with the best aim in the Marvel Universe. He was created by two legends of the medium, writer Marv Wolfman and artist John Romita Sr. in the mid-70s as part of the Daredevil series. However, during his seminal run with the Man Without Fear in the early 80s, artist and writer Frank Miller turned Bullseye into one of the most brutal villains in the Marvel Universe.

Bullseye’s brutality and aim are the stuff of legend, and he has made a name for himself because he only needs one shot to hit his target. He is also extremely vicious and insane, so he has managed to pull some incredible feats, like killing Elektra, one of the best fighters in the Marvel Universe.

Who would win in a fight?

It doesn’t matter if it is a fight until one of them goes down or until one of them dies because they are both characters willing to take a life. Bullseye has proven time and time again that he is a cold-blooded murderer, and Oliver has crossed that line several times, and if push came to shove, he would kill Bullseye if he thought it was the right thing to do.

On the other hand, while they are both intelligent fighters, they are also two hot-headed characters so any planning would be thrown out of the window after the first few hits. So they are pretty even in that regard as well.

But if I had to pick one winner, it would have to be Green Arrow simply because he is a better all-around fighter. Yes, Bullseye is probably a slightly better marksman in terms of aim, but Oliver is much more than that, as he has proven he can fight with several types of weapons, and he has also proven to be capable of hand-to-hand combat. So without shooting weapons, Green Arrow would have the upper hand.

And going a bit deeper into why Oliver would win, you have to think about the competition he has faced in the DC Universe. He has faced deadly opponents like Deathstroke, arguably even more substantial than Bullseye, and another phenomenal marksman in Deadshot, so we are talking about a guy that has fought some really tough villains and managed to come out victorious.

I would also like to point out that while Green Arrow might get angry during the fight and not have an actual plan, he is an overall better strategist than Bullseye, which could play a huge role in him being the winner in this fight.

This is not to say that Bullseye would go down as a chump. Not at all. He has enough skills and capacity to push Green Arrow to his limits, so if Oliver wins, it would be by the skin of his teeth and doing his absolute best.

Overall, this is a pretty even fight that could happen if these two characters shared the same universe. But if push comes to shove, Green Arrow would be the winner because he has a lot more resources and skills to fight Bullseye, which gives him the edge. Let me know your thoughts!
