Hogwarts Legacy has been one of the most anticipated games since the infamous leak that hyped fans worldwide. The ultimate dream of every Harry Potter fan has been to get their own Hogwarts acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The wait is finally over, and fans can finally get to experience the mystical corridors of Hogwarts and what it feels like to become a wizard in this fantasy world.
Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Hogwarts Legacy finally saw daylight on February 10, 2023. The game was released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S and is expected to be ported to the Nintendo Switch around July 2023. The game has been in development since 2018, and this review of Hogwarts Legacy will be spoiler free.
The game is set in the late 1800s, well before the events of the Harry Potter books and movies. Players take on the role of a new 5th-grade student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The story revolves around the player’s journey through their educational years, attending classes, learning spells, exploring the campus, and interacting with various characters and creatures from the Wizarding World. The player will be able to choose which classes they attend, and they will be able to learn a variety of spells and potions throughout their education at Hogwarts
Players also have the opportunity to customize their character’s appearance, including their gender and their house. The game features the four houses from the original series – Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw – and players will be sorted into one of these houses at the beginning of the game depending on the choices the player makes during the sorting ceremony.
One of the key features of “Hogwarts Legacy” is the open-world nature of the game. Players are free to explore the Hogwarts campus and the surrounding areas, which include Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest. The game’s world is vast, with players able to interact with a variety of characters, each with their own backstory and personality.
